On January 15th, SightMD’s Dr. Lawrence Buono spoke to a large audience of Peconic Landing residents on Long Island’s North Fork about the importance of preventing and treating glaucoma and other age-related eye diseases, including macular degeneration, dry eye, and cataract surgery. Dr. Buono’s well-received presentation, which coincides with Glaucoma Awareness month, has become an annual tradition at Peconic Landing.

- The history of cataract surgery and its latest advances, including the numerous benefits of laser cataract surgery.
- The role of a diet rich in vegetables, legumes and fish plays in controlling macular degeneration.
- The various types of glaucoma and the benefits of i-Stent implantation during cataract surgery for the purpose of lowering intraocular pressure for patients that are to help reduce reliance on eye drops.
- Dry-eye symptoms and the importance of using artificial tears and prescription eye drops to treat the condition.
