SightMD, a leading multi-specialty ophthalmology platform and a portfolio company of Chicago Pacific Founders, today announced that it has hired glaucoma specialist, Benjamin T. Whigham, M.D. to join its growing team of over 80 providers in the Tri-state area.
Dr. Whigham is a former post-doctorate clinical fellow at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY who specializes in glaucoma management. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Davidson College in North Carolina, Dr. Whigham went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC, where he was class representative for the Davison Honor Council and a Dean’s Merit Scholarship recipient.
After completing medical school, Dr. Whigham interned in Internal Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC, and performed research at the Durham Veterans Administration Hospital. He then completed his residency in ophthalmology at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he received the Richard C. Troutman Award for Academic Excellence in Ophthalmology. Dr. Whigham is also the co-author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, reviews and published editorials in medical journals.
