Botox and Xeomin are injectable medicines used to relax fine lines and wrinkles from the face. When properly placed by a board certified physician, the results can be dramatic and long lasting. The most common place for patients to be injected is in the glabella (the area between the eyebrows) to treat the “eleven lines.” The next most common area for botox or xeomin injections is to the outside of the eyes, a site known as the “crow’s feet.” Off-label injection areas include the forehead, as well. These injections get rid of worry lines that give the impression of anxiety, fatigue, or aging.
Botox and xeomin usually start their effect within forty eight to seventy two hours after they are injected. Typically, patients see the results of these treatments for three to four months before returning for further follow-up injections. Rare side effects include bruising and allergic reaction to the medication.
Fillers are injectable products that are used to reinflate and reinvigorate descending tissues from aging and sun damage. Products like Juvederm, Radiesse, and Belotero can be used to plump up the lips, accentuate the cheeks, soften the tear trough, or get rid of the nasolabial folds. Unlike botox and xeomin, the results of filler injections are immediate. Depending on the site that is injected or the filler that is used, results can last anywhere from four months to a few years.
Cosmetic eyelid surgery (also known as blepharoplasty) and browlifting are the more common aesthetic surgical procedures that patients choose to have to restore a youthful look to the eyes. These outpatient procedures are safely performed in an ambulatory surgery centers where patients can be given the care they need and deserve in order to ensure a speedy recovery. Sometimes, part of the procedure may even be covered by insurance. An in office consultation is necessary to see if you are a candidate for cosmetic eyelid surgery.
LASIK and laser cataract surgery are procedures that patients have to achieve better vision and relieve dependence on glasses or contact lenses. Personalized measurements are taken to make sure the correct laser treatment is applied to each particular patient.
