- Cataract Treatment – Cataracts are only treatable by surgery. Luckily, cataract surgery is simpler and more effective than it used to be, not to mention it’s virtually painless. Utilizing the Catalys® Precision Laser System, our cataract surgery is the most advanced in the area. This means faster recovery and better results!
- Neuro-Ophthalmology – Neuro-ophthalmologists deal with vision loss that is related to the nervous system. In other words, neuro-ophthalmologists treat vision problems that don’t come from the eyes themselves. Neuro-ophthalmology requires extensive training in both ophthalmology and neurology, and can deal with problems in the eyes, brain, muscles and nerves.
Here at SightMD, we are proud to offer the best in eye care technology. Our Hampton Bays location sets the bar high for other general eye care practices, offering some of the most advanced diagnostic tools available. For our cataract surgeries, we use the Catalys® Precision Laser System during our laser assisted cataract surgery.

wait times can be long but the staff members are friendly and doctors are thorough. just had lasik last week and dr. mauro was amazing!!
if you are even considering lasik, regardless of how intimidating it may seem, i highly suggest at least speaking to dr. savetsky.prior to my consultation, i was so nervous about the thought of getting lasik that i felt physically ill leading up to the appointment. the kindness, competence, and confidence of everyone at the smithtown office really helped to put my fears at ease, and i scheduled my operation that day. each and every person i met was so incredibly supportive and seemed to genuinely care about my experience and results. everyone from dr. savetsky himself, to the assistants, to the surgical coordinators answered my questions with a smile on their face and helped to alleviate all of my concerns.when it comes to medical procedures, i am a nervous wreck and have been known to faint from time to time. so when i say that the procedure itself was quick and painless, know that that's coming from someone with a low threshold for tolerating this kind of thing. the hardest part of the operation itself was coping with the knowledge of what was happening, but i was given a couple of stress balls that i squeezed the living daylight out of, there was nice music playing in the background, i was kept apprised of how much longer each step would take, which really helped me keep my cool as each step was incredibly brief.as for the results... i've been recommending lasik to everyone. imagine laying down to watch tv without that classic case of struggling to find a position where your glasses aren't digging into your head then realizing you actually bent your frames out of shape in the process so you'll be looking absurdly crooked until you get around to getting them adjusted. there are so many little things in my life that are much easier and more comfortable now that i hadn't even considered, and my vision is actually better than it was with glasses or contacts.i know it's a long review, but if you're on the fence, just do it. you'll be well taken care of here and the results are more than worth it.
i won't say why i see dr. knoll, but she has always been professional, polite and friendly with me, and has handled difficult situations smoothly. i first encountered her several years ago while she was still training; the person training her, dr. ira udell, clearly still holds her in high regard. a few years later when i needed to see someone with her skills, and found her where another family member goes, she became the go-to person for me for certain issues. i most recently saw her days ago, and as usual i received a careful, thorough exam, with well thought out plans on how to move forward. i will note that i prefer to see her at the deer park office - it is far more relaxed and easy to deal with.
