How Long Do Lip Injections Last?

Lip filler injections have become very popular since the beginnning of the selfie culture. Kylie Jenner and many other celebrities have popularized products and techniques that produce fuller and thicker lips. Fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, Volbella, and Belotero are commonly used for lip enhancement.

Juvederm is a filler made of hyaluronic acid – a natural substance found in the skin and joints. Injections with Juvederm will typically last for up to six months. At six months, the product is broken down and the lips return to the way they looked before being injected.

Restylane belongs to a family of products that treat different areas of the face. Restylane Lift, Restylane-L, and Restylane Silk are all used to treat around the lips and midface. Similar to Juvederm, Restylane is made from naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid.

Volbella is a new lip filler product manufactured by Allergan. It is similar to the other HA-based fillers, but has special cross-linking technology that makes it last for up to one year.

Belotero is a filler product manufactured by Merz Aesthetics that is typically used for improving smoker’s lines and the vermillion border that surrounds the lips. Because it is a thinner filler than the others and is used to treat very fine superficial areas, it only lasts for four to six months before a touch-up is needed.

Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Samuel Baharestani, is hosting a live demonstration of lip filler injections on Facebook. The event will take place at noon on Thursday, October 27th. All are invited to participate in this live streaming event.

Consultations for lip filler treatment are available throughout Long Island – Garden City, Smithtown, and Riverhead.
