Types of Brow Lift Surgery
There are options for brow lift surgery and your doctor will walk you through the differences and benefits. Together you will come up with a plan to meet your individual needs, concerns, and goals. The three most common techniques are:
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Cosmetic surgeons are using the endoscopic method for brow lift surgery as it is much less invasive than previous techniques and can often achieve an equally desirable result. For an endoscopic brow lift, your cosmetic surgeon will make a series of very short incisions (about ¾” in length) behind the hairline. Using a special tiny camera and thin instruments, they will reposition the muscles and lift underlying tissues of the forehead allowing them to remove excess fat and tissue as needed to create a naturally more youthful brow.
Temporal or Limited Incision Brow Lift
A temporal brow lift involves longer incisions than an endoscopic brow lift and it's commonly performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery. Doctors make incisions about 1 inch long above each temple, behind the hairline which allow your cosmetic surgeon to lift and reposition the tissues of the outer brow area. The surgeon lifts the area between the eyebrows to smooth out frown lines with the incisions made for an upper eyelid procedure.
Classic or Coronal Brow Lift
Once the standard technique, the coronal brow lift has generally fallen out of fashion since well-qualified cosmetic surgeons are typically able to make needed improvements with less invasive techniques. In certain cases a coronal brow lift may be necessary to achieve a patient’s desired results since this technique involves one long incision made behind the hairline, running from ear to ear. Surgeons remove excess skin, fat and tissue and reposition the remaining skin and brow muscles together this results into a more youthful appearance.

What should I expect during my brow lift recovery?
During your brow lift recovery, your forehead may be taped and/or your head may be loosely wrapped. This will help to reduce swelling and bruising after the procedure.
A thin tube may be present to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect under the skin.
Your doctor will give you specific instructions that may include:
How to care for the surgical site and drains
Medications to apply or take orally
Specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health
When to follow up with your plastic surgeon.
You should keep your head elevated and perform no vigorous physical activity for as long as your surgeon recommends. Do not use ice or heat on the operated area.
Brow lift surgery recovery time
Initial wound healing may take 10 to 14 days and sutures or clips will be removed when it is appropriate. You should be ready to return to work and normal activity after 10-14 days. Even though you will look presentable to the public, you will find that the healing will continue for several weeks, as the swelling dissipates and incision lines refine and fade. It may take several months for your complete recovery. Following your physician's instructions is essential to the success of your surgery.
What results should I expect after a brow lift?
The results of your brow lift surgery are immediately visible and over time, post-surgical swelling will resolve and incision lines will fade. Satisfaction with your new image should continue to grow as you recover from surgery. The final results of your surgery will appear over the next few months.
Although good results are expected from your procedure, there can be no guarantee. Life-long sun protection will help to maintain your rejuvenated appearance by minimizing sun damage. A healthy lifestyle will also help extend the results of your surgery.
