Charles Beyrer, M.D.
Dr. Beyrer is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons who actually received his medical training at the renowned University of Bern in Switzerland. Ophthalmologist. After completing his medical training, Dr. Beyrer returned to New York to continue his training and completed his internship at Maimomides Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his ophthalmology residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York and later practiced at the prestigious New York Eye & Ear Hospital.
Dr. Beyrer has been in private as a comprehensive ophthalmologist for over four decades. Since opening Sight Medical Doctors in Bay Shore, New York in 1967, he has gained a reputation for combining the latest advances in comprehensive eye care with a personal, individualized approach to patient care.
He has been an active member in the American Board of Ophthalmology, the New York State Department of Health, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Contemporary Ophthalmology, the Suffolk County Academy of Medicine.
During his extensive medical career in ophthalmology, Dr. Beyrer served as Senior Attending at Southside Hospital, Senior Attending at Good Samaritan Hospital and as Attending Surgeon at New York Eye & Ear Hospital.
He has authored several papers in major medical journals including the Pediatric Journal of Ophthalmology, the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the Archives of Ophthalmology.
Today, Dr. Beyrer enjoys lecturing as an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, SUNY at Stony Brook.
