Jonathan Ellant MD is a board certified, Fellowship-trained cataract and refractive surgeon. He believes strongly that by listening to his patients he can provide them with the best medical and surgical care possible. Dr. Jonathan Ellant has trained as a corneal specialist and performs cataract and LASIK surgeries. He utilizes the most advanced technologies available in order to deliver the best possible vision to meet the needs and desires of his patients.
Jonathan Ellant graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in History and Sociology of Science, and with a minor in Chemistry. At Penn, he played on the Squash team. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. He then was invited to further specialize in Cataract and Refractive Surgery and did his fellowship with world renown surgeon Dr. Howard Gimbel in Calgary, Alberta.

After his fellowship he returned to his native New York and began his private practice. Dr. Ellant performs cataract and refractive surgeries utilizing advanced technologies such as the femtosecond laser, custom cornea LASIK, and advanced technology intraocular lenses. He was an early adopter of microinvasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) and was the first surgeon at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary to implant an iStent for glaucoma. Dr. Ellant is active in teaching residents and lectures widely on such topics as Advanced Cataract Surgery Technologies, Dry Eye, and MIGS. He has served as Director of Ophthalmology at St. Clare’s Hospital in New York as well as the Terrence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center.
Dr. Ellant is married and has 3 children. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing squash, and traveling.
