SightMD, a leading multi-specialty ophthalmology platform and a portfolio company of Chicago Pacific Founders, today announced a strategic partnership with Alexander P. Hatsis, M.D., FACS of Hatsis Laser Vision. The partnership expands SightMD’s presence on Long Island, adding an additional Nassau County location and three providers to SightMD’s current footprint of 32 locations and 70+ providers across Long Island and the Greater New York City area.
Hatsis Laser Vision is one of the region’s pre-eminent providers of comprehensive ophthalmic care, including laser cataract surgery, LASIK laser vision correction, and retinal services. Hatsis Laser Vision is led by its founder, Alexander Hatsis, M.D., F.A.C.S., with support from fellowship-trained retinal specialist, Philip Bonanno, M.D. and optometrist, Dr. Leah Shanfeld. The acquisition builds upon SightMD’s leading position in New York and adds the Company’s first LASIK suite in Nassau County.

Dr. Hatsis was one of the expert U.S. surgeons to help gain FDA approval for laser vision correction, and the first surgeon to perform LASIK on Long Island in 1995. He also participated in FDA approval of Phakic Implant Lenses and was the first surgeon on Long Island to treat keratoconus with collagen cross-linking in 2007. In addition to research, patient care, and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Hatsis is passionate about service work, where he frequently participates in global medical missions to underserved areas. He has been voted a Castle Connelly “Top Doctor” for six consecutive years, a Newsday “Top Doctor” for five consecutive years, and a Humanitarian of the Year by the Salvation Army.
Schedules and hours for Drs. Hatsis, Bonanno, and Shanfeld will remain unchanged pursuant to the partnership. Hatsis Laser Vision represents the seventh practice to join SightMD since the Company partnered with Chicago Pacific Founders.
