Bio

Lawrence Zweibel, MD, FACS is a board certified ophthalmologist and senior partner at SightMD. Dr. Zweibel states he chose Ophthalmology as a specialty since he felt there was so much that can be done in this field to improve ones quality of life. Preserving vision, as with patients with glaucoma or diabetes is of paramount importance. But restoring vision as with cataract surgery is also quite rewarding. However, he felt that just restoring vision was not enough as most people in the 1970’s had to rely on thick cataract glasses in order to see which were known for distortion and magnification of objects by 20%. For this reason he became the first person in Suffolk County to replace the cataract with an intraocular lens at the time of surgery. When not in the office Dr. Zweibel spends his time with his family running, swimming, skiing, and reading. He is a private pilot with commercial, multiengine, and instrument ratings.
