In January 2019, Brooklyn Nets point guard, Spencer Dinwiddie and The Dinwiddie Family Foundation (DFF) announced a unique partnership with SightMD, the largest Ophthalmology and Eye Care Practice in the Northeast, in an effort to support Dinwiddie’s 3s For Better Vision and lead the charge in childhood eye and ocular disease prevention.
3s For Better Vision provides disadvantaged children and families who are uninsured and reside in New York City, and Long Island with free eye exams, and free eyeglasses.
As apart of the 3s For Better Vision program, the pair partnered again for a Back To School Screening Day in Babylon, New York. NBA Star Spencer Dinwiddie will be on-site to spend time with the youth, discuss the importance of getting screened, provide words of encouragement, and sign autographs. The event is slated for September 21, 2019 from 10AM-1PM.
SightMD will continue to work hand and hand with The Dinwiddie Family Foundation to conduct outreach within inner-city schools and low-income communities.
The Dinwiddie Family Foundation believes all children, especially should have the opportunity to better their health. Spencer Dinwiddie was born with an ocular autoimmune disease that went undetected and untreated for almost a decade. With this in mind, the program was born: “I value the gift of sight. I am grateful that I had a great team of doctors who helped correct and better my situation. I am excited to partner with SightMD. I know through our partnership we will be able to help impact many children and their families with early detection, prevention, and awareness.”
