Brow Lifting

If the skin of your brow droops, blocking your peripheral vision, a brow lift can restore your vision while helping you look refreshed and alert. At SightMD, we offer highly individualized care and will develop a surgical strategy that meets your specific needs. In many cases, insurance will cover some, if not all, of the surgery, and our staff will be happy to speak to your insurance provider on your behalf to determine coverage eligibility.

Creating Your Treatment Plan

Before your brow lift, your doctor will conduct a thorough consultation to determine the best way to enhance your vision and appearance. Together, you and the doctor will discuss your goals, review your medical history, and discuss any questions you have concerning the procedure, recovery, and other aspects. When a brow lift is medically necessary, the incision can be placed above the eyebrows in the forehead, or the doctor may determine that an incision along the eyelid crease or at the top of the forehead near the hairline is the best approach. When the incision is just above or below the hairline, your doctor can perform an endoscopic procedure. Using this approach, a small tube attached to a tiny camera is inserted through a small incision to provide a comprehensive view of tissues below the skin.

Patient and doctor consultation

During surgery, your doctor will create the incision and use highly precise surgical techniques to ensure minimal scarring. Through the incisions, your doctor will lift sagging muscles, carefully suturing them into their new positions. The doctor will also remove excess tissues and fat deposits. The entire outpatient procedure typically takes between one and three hours.

Recovery and Benefits

If a sagging brow was obstructing your field of vision, you will notice an immediate improvement following a brow lift procedure. You may also see some cosmetic improvements, which will improve as your recovery progresses. After a brow lift, it is normal to experience some swelling and discomfort, which you can typically treat with over-the-counter pain medication. Your complete recovery will typically only take a few weeks, and you should be able to return to your routine activities within ten days.

To receive health care coverage for a brow lift, we will most likely need to submit a preauthorization, stating that you are undergoing treatment for health-related purposes. However, following surgery, you can experience come cosmetic benefits that make you look significantly younger, happier, and more alert.
