The LASIK procedure only lasts 15 minutes but can vary from patient to patient, and patients typically feel mild pressure in the eyes. Your doctor will administer numbing drops into your eyes, and will talk you through the entire surgery to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible. Blinking during LASIK is nothing to be concerned about since during LASIK, a device is used that gently holds your eye open so you don’t have to think about it.
Are LASIK results permanent?
LASIK can last anywhere from 10 years up to a lifetime. While LASIK is known for its permanence, there are a limited number of cases where some nearsightedness, farsightedness and or astigmatism can return over time. The reason being that nothing can prevent natural changes that your eyes go through over time.
How much does LASIK cost?

Is LASIK covered by insurance?

Are you awake during LASIK eye surgery?
LASIK eye surgery is unique in that it doesn’t require general anesthesia; actually, it’s essential for you to be awake during the procedure.
Are there any restrictions before and after surgery?
Prior to surgery day there are no restrictions (except for not wearing contact lenses). After Surgery it is important to take the following precautions:
- 1 week: no flying, no eye make up, no strenuous activity/working out
- 2 weeks: No swimming underwater
What is recovery like?
Some mild discomfort may occur immediately following the procedure, and full recovery typically takes only 24 to 48 hours. After your surgery, the best thing you can do is go home and rest!
