Dr. Alyssa Tursi is a board-certified optometrist delivering comprehensive eye exams and personalized vision care at SightMD in Smithtown, New York. Dr. Tursi earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware. Her clinical training included rotations focused on primary eye care, contact lenses, and ocular disease, equipping her with the skills to provide both routine and medical eye care services.
As an experienced eye doctor, Dr. Tursi provides comprehensive eye exams, glasses and contact lens fittings, and evaluation and management of common eye conditions such as dry eye, digital eye strain, and ocular surface disease. She takes a proactive approach to eye health, emphasizing early detection and preventative care to help patients maintain long-term vision clarity.
Dr. Tursi has a particular interest in helping patients manage modern visual challenges, including prolonged screen use and digital eye fatigue. Guided by the philosophy that every patient deserves access to high-quality, personalized eye care, Dr. Tursi believes in treating the whole patient—not just the symptoms. She is especially passionate about community service and global outreach. During her time in optometry school, she was an active member of Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH), participating in mission work that provided eye care to more than 1,200 underserved individuals in Grenada. She also volunteered at the Special Olympics of New Jersey, offering vision screenings and care to more than 400 athletes.
Known for her approachable and patient-centered style, Dr. Tursi prioritizes building strong relationships with her patients. She takes time to understand their concerns, explain findings clearly, and ensure they feel confident in their care decisions.
