Dr. Mary Ann K. Rubis is a highly experienced optometrist who has been serving the Springfield, Massachusetts community for over 30 years. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry and completed her undergraduate studies at Syracuse University. Dr. Rubis is certified by the Board of Registration in Optometry to prescribe and manage both topical and oral medications for ocular diseases, including glaucoma.
With extensive experience in patient-centered care and contact lens management, Dr. Rubis is dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care to her patients. She offers a wide range of services, including, comprehensive eye examinations, ocular disease evaluations/diagnoses/treatment, contact lens evaluations and refractive surgery assessments. To ensure integrated medical care for her patients, she collaborates with their medical teams as needed.
Dr. Rubis is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists, and Zonta International. Her commitment to global eye care is reflected in her involvement with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, through which she has provided vision care to underserved villages in Armenia. A member of Zonta International since 1997, Dr. Rubis has worked locally and globally to build a better world for women and girls. On the international level she co-developed the ZONTA Says NO to Violence Against Women Campaign and the Global Membership Drive. She was appointed for two biennia as the Chairman of the Zonta Foundation for Women Development Committee. Locally, the Zonta Club of Quaboag Valley advocated against Massachusetts’ Child Marriage Law – resulting in Massachusetts becoming the seventh state to end child marriage in 2022. Her club is also involved in an annual Period Project, bringing dignity to women and girls. She has conducted workshops and spoken on behalf of Zonta. Her love of travel has led her to explore all continents with the exception of Antarctica – at least not yet. While attending a human rights task force in Rwanda, Africa, she participated in a gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park.
