Dr. Sima Doshi-Carnevale is a board-certified ophthalmologist, refractive eye surgeon, and fellowship-trained cornea specialist providing advanced eye care at SightMD’s Long Island-area locations in Garden City and Manhasset, New York. She specializes in corneal disease, external disease, modern cataract surgery, laser vision correction and refractive surgery. With expertise in both medical and surgical treatments, Dr. Doshi offers a wide range of advanced procedures, including LASIK and PRK, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, premium intraocular lenses, corneal transplants (PK and DSAEK), corneal crosslinking for keratoconus, and treatment of pterygium and other ocular surface conditions. Dr. Doshi earned her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she developed a strong foundation in innovation and precision. She then completed her medical degree and Master’s in Surgery at McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal. Dr. Doshi went on to complete her ophthalmology residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. She then pursued a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at New York University and North Shore University Hospital.

Committed to excellence in her field, Dr. Doshi has contributed to numerous publications and multicenter clinical trials focusing on corneal disease, dry eye, and refractive surgery. She has also played a role in the education of future ophthalmologists, participating in the clinical training of residents. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and the New York State Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. Doshi believes that effective care begins with empathy. She takes the time to understand each patient’s unique journey and builds trust through attentive, thoughtful care. Having lived in the area for over 25 years, she is proud to practice in the community that shaped her, and is deeply committed to giving back through her work.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Doshi is a passionate artist who designs and creates all the artwork in her home. Painting serves as a source of relaxation and balance in her life, while also enhancing the fine motor skills, aesthetic sensibility, and creative thinking that enhance her surgical and clinical practice.
