Eric J. Sigler, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the retina and vitreous. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany and completed his medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Sigler went on to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at Yale University School of Medicine, where he was elected to serve as Chief Resident. Dr. Sigler is renowned for his pioneering work in vitreoretinal surgery, being the first surgeon in New York to implant the sustained release port system for macular degeneration both during clinical trials and following FDA approval. His expertise in cutting-edge treatments places him at the forefront of retinal care, and he is actively involved in numerous clinical studies, contributing to the advancement of ophthalmic medicine with countless publications. He has contributed to scientific discovery with several original descriptions. Dr. Sigler maintains a commitment to the community with a philosophy of early preventative treatment, minimal manipulation with the highest quality visual outcome, and pain free eye procedures. Dr. Sigler sees patients at SightMD’s locations in Smithtown, Riverhead, and Babylon, where he provides comprehensive and compassionate care to those dealing with complex retinal conditions. In his spare time, Dr. Sigler enjoys a wide array of interests, including music, biking, theoretical physics, and various sports. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
